Bulldog Arms

Vibrant new artwork adorns Downtown Bettendorf building

The Bulldog Arms has a vibrant new look

August 27, 2025

The Bulldog Arms building at 2211 Grant St. has a vibrant new look. The new mural, “Lost Frequencies,” by artist Dominic Laporte, was installed as part of the Alternating Currents (AC) festival, held August 14-17.

Artist’s statement:

  • “This mural portrays a woman meeting your gaze, with florals seamlessly layered across her skin and into the space around her—like a living tattoo—blurring the line between body and bloom. It speaks to the truth that nature is not separate from us; it is embedded in our identity, though sometimes forgotten in the city, like a lost frequency. The piece is a reminder that our connection to the natural world is both intimate and inescapable.” – Dominic Laporte, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada

“We are so excited to have this must-see mural in Downtown Bettendorf, said Ryan Jantzi, Executive Director of the Downtown Bettendorf Organization. “This mural adds to the vibrancy of our downtown and helps establish and define our brand. It will serve as a landmark on the east side of downtown Bettendorf and set the standard for future public art. Thank you to Dominic for sharing his talents with the QC.

Four other murals, two in Downtown Rock Island and two in Downtown Bettendorf, were also created during AC weekend.
